I bought this toy for my daughter for Christmas last year. The first thing she did when she opened the package was make a horrified face and go "WHY IS THERE ANOTHER HEAD?!" It was The Godfather all over again (but kind of hilarious this time). After explaining that this was another head to change the horse's 'do, she didn't touch it for a month. Eventually, she overcame her fear of the disembodied horse head, but still finds it slightly disturbing. She asked for a horse with a head that did not detach, because it's "hard to find the one she wants in the toybox."
